Cowtown Boogie was started in 1993 when Ron Lynam and Mike Lantz of the internationally-popular bluegrass band Front Range, along with friends Patty Clayton, Pat Carbone and Dan Mitchell, decided it was time to mix a little western swing into their usual bluegrass gumbo. In 1996 Ranger Rick Bradstreet of the Bluegrass Patriots signed on to play steel guitar and the move to western swing was complete. Over the years Cowtown has played mostly along the Front Range of the Colorado Rockies, entertaining audiences at a variety of clubs, dances, festivals and parties. Membership changed over the years and, following Ranger Rick's premature departure from this Earth in 2002, reformed with Ron, Mike, Ron's wife Julie, and veteran jazz musicians Tim Gauthier, Bob Montgomery and Chris Dale. The Cowtown Boogie of today is swingier, jazzier and more boogified than ever! Cowtown continues on in spite of the loss of Mike Lantz, who succombed to brain cancer March 29, 2006 (be sure to check out his tribute pages). We're confidant that Mike would have wanted it that way.
